- 1/4 cup of sliced almonds
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- 2 tablespoons of light corn syrup
- 1/4 cup of coconut flakes
- 2 tablespoons of white chocolate chips
- 1/4 teaspoon of almond extract
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan and set aside.
2. Prepare the cake mix according to package instructions and pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool completely before assembling the sailboat.
3. While the cake is cooling, prepare the frosting. In a medium bowl, mix together the melted butter, corn syrup, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and water until smooth. Divide the frosting into two bowls and tint one bowl blue with a few drops of food coloring. Reserve the remaining white frosting for later.
4. To assemble the cake, place the cooled cake onto a cake board. Spread the blue frosting over the top of the cake and smooth it out with an offset spatula. Sprinkle the shredded coconut over the frosting to create the waves. Place the graham crackers, almonds, and coconut flakes in a bowl and mix together.
5. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter and corn syrup together. Stir in the white chocolate chips and almond extract. Pour the mixture over the graham cracker mixture and stir until evenly combined. Spread the mixture over the top of the blue frosting to create the sailboat.
